In 2009, I had the opportunity to guest on SOJA’s song “Thunderstorms.” I was invited to bring my Weissenborn to a home studio in Arlington, Virginia, without knowing much about the track I’d be playing on. I hadn’t heard the strings, and I didn’t even know they were coming—but when I finally heard the finished version, the result was exquisite.

In 2011, I connected with Justin Jones of Washington, D.C.’s 930 Records and was invited to record on his song “My Father’s Gun.” We tracked it at Sucker Punch Studios in Bethesda, MD, where I played an Asher Electro Hawaiian slide guitar—basically a Les Paul-style take on the Weissenborn.Listen on SoundCloud.
